Uber now available in Pakistan

The wait is finally over as Uber has made its way to Pakistan. We told you few months back about the popular car ride firm plans to initiate the service in Pakistan. The transport service has now been launched in Lahore, capital of Punjab. Yesterday, there was a small pre-launch event at Barcelos, Lahore. Today, it has initiated its operations finally.

Here are few comments from Mr. Loic Amado, Uber’s International Launcher for Middle East & Pakistan, regarding the launch:

The interest has been incredible in Lahore, so we are extremely excited to be launching here first. Anyone can now enjoy an affordable, reliable and safe ride at the push of a button thanks to uberGO.

The service will be launching in Karachi and Islamabad later on. With Uber, you can make payment in cash or through your credit card. Here are the details of fare rates of Uber car ride service:

  • Base Fare: 100 PKR
  • Cancellation: 150 PKR
  • Per KM: 13.7 PKR
  • Per minute: 3.7 PKR

These fare rates are quite less than that of Careem and recently launched A-Taxi. Uber has started its service with 100 cars on-board. It is currently offering UberGo vehicles in Pakistan that includes Suzuki Swifts, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Corrolas, Honda Civics or equivalent.

Uber-in-Lahore

The company plans to add more luxurious cars under UberBlack and UberLUX category later on. To celebrate its launch in Pakistan, Uber is offering 5 free rides up to Rs. 500 each on every account till Sunday. All you need is to download Uber app from HERE and sign up using Facebook or Google to skip adding credit card details. Or, you can sign up HERE to get Rs. 1000 off on first ride.  Remember, you are required to add credit card details if you sign up from web.

The service is also giving free rides on inviting other users. It means you can refer your invitation code to your friends. If they sign up using the code, they will be getting free ride worth Rs. 1000. Once they take the ride, you will also be getting Rs. 1000.

Uber has focused on ensuring safety and security of passengers. All drivers have undergone strict verification process. They have been trained to behave better with customers.
