Yesterday, Siasat.pk went offline as their hosting provider removed the DNS entries on directives of FIA. The news went viral in no time. Social media users showed sympathy with the site and criticized the government. The trend #LiftthebanfromSiasatpk listed among top trends on Twitter. Popular journalist Dr. Shahid Masood even announced to do a program on this matter that will go live today.
The site was not even accessible by any proxy as it was removed by their hosting provider. This has certainly endangered the future of .PK domains as they can be blocked completely without any notice. This is what has happened in Siasat.pk case. They have not even received any prior warning before been taken down. The site was hosted by Nexus, an Islamabad based hosting provider. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) asked the hosting provider to step down the site.
Well, Siasat.pk is now back. They are now online with different URL i.e. www.siasat.net. They have changed their hosting provider and are now live with .net domain. They have already posted this update on their social handles. They have started to post video clips and discussions again. Social media users have welcomed this news.
There are no official words from government on why the site was taken down. Even, PTA is not aware of the entire situation. We will keep you updated once we get any further development in this regard.
Best of luck to Siasat.pk for their future operations! We stand by Siasat.pk on this matter. Click on social sharing buttons below to share the story with your friends!
