Markhor is the first Pakistani startup to attend Y-Combinator Summer Class 2015

Another Plan9 startup Markhor has earned a milestone. It has become the first Pakistani startup that will be attending Y-Combinator Summer Class 2015. The startup got first in limelight earlier this year when it raised funds higher than its actual funding goal through Kickstarter campaign. Now, it has got an entry to prestigious startup accelerator Y-Combinator.

Not heard of Y-Combinator? Well, Y-Combinator is a popular American seed fund that invests money in startups and also provides the selective projects with advice and connections in exchange of 7% equity. It’s definitely a big achievement for Markhor and its team to become its part. Here are few words from one of the Co-Founder of Markhor Mr. Waqas Ali:

We weren’t confident about our application to YC as the program rarely accepts fashion start-ups. However, now that we’re in, our aim is to become a ten billion dollar company

As you can see, the team behind Markhor is now aiming to take the startup to the next level. So, what the startup does is to make handmade leather shoes and sell them online. The main idea is to remove the middlemen so to make the cost of shoes effective for the customers. All the items are well crafted and definitely gonna caught your attention. Currently, Markhor only features shoes for men. But, it is soon going to introduce its products for women too.

Interestingly, the startup has been named on the national animal of Pakistan that is an ibex. Congratulations to Markhor for this achievement and we wish best of luck to the team behind it. You can visit their official site to learn more about the startup.
