Live Traffic feature now available for Google Maps Pakistan

Google Maps Pakistan has now finally received the much awaited feature i.e. Live Traffic. The feature enables users to track current traffic situation on roads hence helping them to choose right routes and to avoid traffic jams. The feature was launched back in 2012 and is now made available for Pakistan.

You will definitely be thinking how this feature works. Well, Google Maps Pakistan will be collecting real-time traffic data from third-party services and from users who have enabled ‘My Location’ feature. Google Pakistan recommends users to switch on GPS location so that Live Traffic works effectively.

Currently, this feature is available only in Islamabad and Lahore. In these cities, Google Maps Pakistan will be showing different colors on routes indicating the traffic situation. A green color will indicate normal speed of traffic. A yellow color will indicate a bit slow traffic. A red color will indicate slowest speed of traffic, possibly a traffic jam. You can go with yellow one but you should avoid the route with red color. Apart from this, the new feature also shows traffic incident details i.e. road is closed, construction underway or a traffic accident that has slowed down the traffic.

To enable Live Traffic feature for Google Maps Pakistan, first you need to get Google Maps app from Play Store HERE. Afterwards, here is what you need to do:

  1. Launch the Google Maps app.
  2. Tap on Menu button at the top left of the screen.
