FIA shuts down i.e. a popular online political forum

Pakistan’s popular online political forum has now been banned by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the directives of the government. The popular platform used to host video clips and discussions mainly related to politics. The move is certainly made to hammer the right to freedom of speech.

As per a post made on Facebook page, the website is not accessible since this morning. When contacted, Nexus, an Islamabad based hosting provider, confirmed that the website has been taken down on the instructions of FIA – Government of Pakistan. The DNS entries of the website has been removed and the website will not be accessible till the matter gets resolved. Here is the picture of the mail posted on the Facebook page: has not received any prior warning or contacted in this regard. The action was completely one sided as told by the admins. The team is now looking to how to handle the issue. They have also asked their followers for suggestions regarding their next step.

It is important to mention here that PTA has not blocked the website as in usual cases. Instead, as the website is hosted within Pakistan, it is asked to be taken down completely through the hosting provider. FIA, however, has claimed to receive the orders from PTA to block
