At the start of this month, we told you about the ongoing discussion between Blackberry and PTA. And finally, we have got a positive outcome from that. Blackberry has agreed upon the terms of PTA. It means that BES is not going to suspend from 30th December 2015.
Previously, Federal Govt. had decided to suspend Blackberry Enterprise Services (BES) in Pakistan on security concerns. The company was not allowing the government to access its communication servers. PTA was of the view that the company has allowed the access in various countries. So, why not for Pakistan?
According to official figures, there are around 5,000 to 6,000 BES customers in Pakistan. These customers are now in no threat as they will continue enjoying the services. BES has allowed the consent to assist the government on legal matters. Both Blackberry and PTA have made a formal contract that is to be approved soon by the related authorities.
Considering the reduction in Blackberry customers, it was quite expected that the company would give consent to Pakistani government. We will be getting an official statement on this news soon so stay tuned!
