ASHRAE Students Chapter-UET Lahore has always promised to bring something new, different and inspiring for people. After the success of its recent event Kaizen 15; a Sino-Japanese word meaning “change for better”, ASHRAE UET is back with a bang again. ASHRAE UET, under the presidency of Muddabar Un Noor has come up this time with an idea of social event. As evident from its logo i.e. LEAD, EXCEL and EXPLORE, ASHRAE UET seems to be setting the standards and examples for others to follow by organizing a social event for the cause of helping the orphans. Keeping intact its legacy of unique and appealing names, ASHRAE UET has named this event as Meraki.
Meraki is a Greek word which means the soul, creativity or love put into something; the essence of yourself that is put into your work. The event will be held on 10th August, 2015. The purpose of this event is to make students realize their social responsibilities. Just like its name, this event aims to bring some love and light in the lives of those innocent little souls. As Mother Teresa said,
We can cure physical diseases with medicine but the only cure for loneliness, despair and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love.
ASHRAE UET focuses on filling the hollowness of those empty hearts with love, passion and care. So, this event covers up a lot of fun activities for those special children including different games, musical show, etc. The event will start by decorating the sky with hundreds of green and white balloons which will emphasize the display of Patriotism. Different news channels will offer coverage of this event. Motivated by the words, “Your few minutes can change the lives of millions”, the Executives of ASHRAE UET will spend one whole day with those orphans and will leave no stone unturned to give them the happiness they crave for.
At the end, the worthy president Muddabar Un Noor and the vice president Umar Azam along with other executives will present those children with gifts. A hearty meal with the children will make a perfect ending for this good social work. The event will end by lighting the sky with sky lanterns.
